For 13+ years I’ve done complex trauma-focused work because prior to becoming a therapist, I personally struggled with its effects.

Are you doing your best, but something keeps pulling you back into the same cycles? Do you feel overwhelmed, shut down, or reactive, but you can’t explain why? Are you wondering, “Why am I like this?”

Complex trauma doesn’t just live in your memories, it lives in your nervous system, beliefs about yourself and the world, and in your reactions. Reactions and symptoms that confuse or frustrate you are signals from parts of you that still need healing.

You feel so broken, you’ve been hurt, but you are on your way to wholeness and new peace.

People Come To Me When They

  • Feel easily overwhelmed

  • Lose motivation

  • Have sleep issues

  • React hyper-emotionally

  • Shut down

  • Have tense + distant relationships

  • Function on autopilot

  • Want peace but can’t find it

When you can’t understand why you react the way you do, I will help you understand, heal, and practice new ways of being.

Let's Talk

“Behaviors are often just hurt, young parts of ourselves that are time warped. They are trying to keep us safe from a time that no longer exists.

When we heal the hurt, the need for the defensive behavior vanishes and we are free to truly be ourselves. “

How I Treat Complex Trauma

We begin with a clear assessment looking at patterns, nervous system responses, and life history. From there, we work together to build awareness and heal what’s been driving your reactions.

My approach is compassionate, curious, and active. We won’t just talk about what happened, we will work somatically to heal the effects in your beliefs and reactions, opening you up to new experiences.

My Modalities

  • Processes experiences that stay “stuck” in the nervous system so you can move forward without being triggered.

  • Helps you meet and integrate the parts of yourself that carry pain, shame, or fear, reducing inner conflict.

  • Strengthens the connection between mind and body, calming physical symptoms of trauma like tension or shutdown.

  • Item description

Healing isn’t abstract. It’s about building new connections within yourself that make life more enjoyable and easier to live.

About Lisa Hanson, LMFT

I’ve worked in trauma-focused therapy for over 13 years, helping people understand and integrate the parts of themselves that carry pain. Before becoming a therapist, I personally experienced the effects of trauma, so I know how much relief is possible when the work is done right.

When I’m not in session, I love spending time outdoors with my family and our dog.
